Bumper month for The Charging Point

January has been a bumper month for our electric vehicle website TheChargingPoint.com, both in terms of content (partly thanks to the Detroit Motor Show) and visitors (traffic doubled over the previous month). Some of the most popular stories have included a look at a new battery technology from IBM that could mean electric cars will be able to go 500 miles on a single charge, rather than roughly 100 miles (the current norm).

There's also been the news that a British company headed by Lord Drayson has built a pure-electric Le Mans racer that's as fast as a Formula One car. And there's been controversy surrounding the bumped up final price of the highly anticipated Vauxhall Ampera – an extended range electric car due to launch in March that also uses a petrol engine to generate electric power for the battery, extended its 'range'. One reader suggested Vauxhall should "…buy an economics text book, idiots" – yep, it's stirred up emotions alright! Visit the site at www.thechargingpoint.com.
